Milky Way - Nikon 2025

Various Milky Way images from different locations. The better the location with respect to light pollution, the better the image. While portions of the Milky Way are visible throughout the year, the best pictures include all or part of the galactic core. The galactic core rises in the Northern Hemisphere in the spring and sets (goes below the night sky horizon) in the fall. Pictures of the Galactic core require the earth to position itself between the Sun and the Core so that the night sky faces the core.

Pictures of the Milky Way require an extremely wide field of view. Rarely are telescopes used because of their more narrow field of view and longer focal length. Therefore pictures of the Milky Way are normally taken with DSLR's and Mirrorless Cameras mounted on Tripods. Mounts/Trackers are sometimes used when really long exposures are taken.

SeeStar S50 2024-2025

vlcsnap-2025-03-14-07h17m22s296.png

The SeeStar S50 is a small portable self contained telescope. With a 50mm Lens and 250MM Focal Length it is well suite for hobbyist Astrophotography. I have used it as a Solar Scope, Lunar images and General Photography (especially large objects).

Images can be a little grainy on the edges. I try to clean them up whenever possible.

CarbonStar 150

This is my GOTO Telescope. 150mm = 6 inch mirror and 600MM Focal Length. Used with a variety of Astro Photography specific cameras. The Mount is a ZWO AM5N Strain Wave Mount.

It has a very nice look and is very light due to the Carbonfiber Optical Tube. It pairs well with the AM5 Mount.
